Camping

 My parents left Friday morning and by Friday afternoon, we were camping! We met up with the Vasquez family for a weekend of camping fun. There were 8 of us total and it was so much fun! 

This 'n That....

School is officially out!! My parents booked their plane tickets way before ‘snow days’ pushed us back a week so unfortunately they were home a couple days by themselves. Zoe didn’t go to school on the last day (June 20^th) because it was a half-day and she wanted to stay home with Mamaw and Pop Pop. I on the other hand, had to drag myself into work for a few hours before I could start my summer vacation. My co-workers brought in all kinds of birthday goodies to munch on for my birthday so that made up for having to be there, it was a nice way to start the summer AND celebrate my birthday all together.

This past weekend, we took my parents to NYC. My dad had never been to the city and wanted to see all NYC had to offer. We had a great time seeing all the sights and shopping. What’s a trip to NYC without eating a hotdog from one of the street vendors? It was a long day but well worth it.

In other news, we got a pool it’s an above ground but that’s all we needed. We’ve tried the ones you buy from the store (do-it-yourself) and we could never get it level and it just never worked out in our favor. We decided to splurge and go through a pool store this time. So far, so good! Zoe is a fish and wants to be in the pool everyday.

My parents will be leaving Friday. The time always goes by so fast. It’s been great having them here. We will see them again in a couple months – on their turf!

Us

It’s been a heck of a winter for us. Between the weather and Shell’s travel schedule, I never thought summer would get here.

Zoe and I only have a week of school left and we have been counting down for weeks. I’m sure the elementary kids are just as antsy as my Sr. High kids for school to be done. I’ve really missed not being able to do things at Zoe’s school like I used to when I worked from home but on the flip side, I’ve really enjoyed being out of the house and staying on my toes working at the high school. I hope this summer doesn’t go by too fast. We have a lot planned and before you know it we will be saying, “It’s September, already?”

To start off our summer, Mamaw and Pop Pop are coming to visit for 10 days. We are looking forward to lots of quality time with them. It’s been WAY TOO LONG!

End of soccer season....

Soccer season has come to an end! Zoe’s team, The Tidal Waves did a fantastic job. Saturday was their last game and they all went home with trophies and lots of new friends.

Brownies

Shelli has been out of town for two weeks (coming home only on the weekend) so I’m extremely behind on the blog – I’m sorry!

This past week, Zoe bridged over from Brownies to Juniors in Girl Scouts. The ceremony took place at her school. All the girls were so excited to shed their brownie vest to make room for a new Junior sash! I remember being a Girl Scout and went through all these same ‘bridging’ ceremonies. It’s fun re-living it through my daughter. Zoe really enjoys being in Girl Scouts. She has done lots of neat things and is excited to journey up to the next level.

About half-way through the ceremony Shelli walked in to surprise Zoe. She got an earlier flight home and was able to watch her baby spread her wings to becoming a Junior. The look on Zoe’s face (during the ceremony) was priceless. After a long two-weeks that one moment made it all okay.

Congratulations Zoe! We are proud of you!!!

MVP Soccer

We got an email the other day letting us know that Zoe had been chosen to play in the MVP game, how exciting!  We were so proud of Zoe, and couldn’t wait to tell her.  Well today was the big day, and Zoe didn’t disappoint.  She played goalie the entire second half and she did fantastic.  Zoe made several huge saves and the game was a blast to watch.  What a great time, maybe we’re looking at the next Briana Scurry in the making, Team USA, here we come!

Fireworks

Tonight was Chalfont Night! The town puts on a night of music, food, and fireworks. It was lots of fun and of course everyone who lives in Chalfont was there.

Cell Phone

This is a topic that Shelli and I have talked about in length. Zoe is now into so many different activities that it just makes sense for her to have a cell phone however, it’s a slippery slope. We did get Zoe a pre-paid cell phone that she would take out with her when she went to play, to sports practices, or any other time she needed it. The problem was, the minutes run out before she could use them all. This went on for a while before Shelli told me to just stop buying the minuets. It was a waste of money! We decided to go to our cell phone carrier and ask them what ‘plans’ they had that might fit our needs. Having a fancy phone wasn’t an option. Zoe only needs a phone that can make calls & text. NO INTERNET! After being at the store for almost an hour, we walked out with a new (free) phone and one happy little girl added to mommy’s plan.

Ricketts Glen

This weekend we went to Ricketts Glen State Park. It’s a park we’ve always wanted to camp at but never made it there. It’s about 2-hours and 15 minutes from the house and worth every mile it took us to get there. The place is amazing!!! Our campsite was on the lake, the weather was perfect, the hiking was fantastic (30 waterfalls), and there was NO CELL PHONE service. It was a weekend of hiking and unwinding.
