We are back from our trip to Georgia and man did we do all kinds of fun stuff!
Friday
morning, Grammy and Zoe started off the weekend with a girls day to
get pedicures. Zoe has been waiting to do that with Grammy for weeks.
She didn't want anyone to go except her and Grammy, and when they got
back they both had pretty toes. Zoe opted for glitter colors while
Grammy went with a pretty coral color. Later that evening, we went to
visit Aunt Pam and Uncle Eddie, and spend the afternoon with them. We
were standing
outside checking out the garden and out walked my uncle Lester, whom I
haven't seen in over 5 years so needless to say, I was beyond happy to
see him. It was nice catching up with everyone and of course Zoe is
right in the middle of it all, Z loves everything family! Aunt Pam made a
fantastic lunch with all kinds of fresh goodies out of her garden. It's
always so fun
and never enough time.
When we got back to Grammy and Grandad's,
Maggie (my step-brothers daughter - who is 10) was waiting on Zoe. My
brother was on his way with his family and we were all going to grab
some pizza for dinner. (table for 12!) It was a fun visit for all the
adults and the kids, and all the kids we're very well behaved. Once we
got home, it was late and the girls were tired. They hit the air mattress, had a little girl talk and fell asleep.
Saturday,
Maggie and Zoe spent the day at a 'Hot Rod' Picnic where there was tons
of 'Old School' cars, as Zoe calls them. Zoe was so excited to be able
to ride in Grandad's 1936 Ford. Rusty and his family also went to the
picnic so the kids played all day and had a big time. As if that wasn't
enough action for one day, Grammy and Grandad took the girls to the
movies that night. Zoe and Grammy saw Despicable Me 2 and Grandad and
Maggie saw Turbo. Mommy and Mimi hit the
town.
Sunday, after church, we took Zoe to Lego Land. We had
so much fun and enjoyed watching Z take
it all in. For dinner we met up with some of Lori's friends from Miami
who now live in Atlanta. It's always nice to catch up with old friends
and Z made new friends with their daughters. On the way home, I couldn't
pass the Varsity without stopping. I wanted to let Zoe experience a
little of what I grew up loving. I wanted Z had to experience one of
the my most favorite rites of passage. Zoe jumped right in and ordered a
cheese dog and some onion rings along with a FO. Mommy doesn't like
this place much but she let us enjoy all it had to offer.

Monday,
mommy wanted to take the girls hiking. It's not a trip if Lori doesn't
find a place to hike, right? Lori loaded up the car with snacks,
drinks, and off we went to the newest crown jewel in the GA State Park
system; Chattahoochee Bend State Park. It was HOT and super HUMID but
after it was all said and done, we did 5 miles. I was so proud of the
kids. After
the hike, the girls were beat and ready for some quiet time so my dad
and I went out for a little father/daughter
time which I always enjoy. After dinner Zoe went with Grammy and
Grandad to take Maggie home.
Tuesday morning came too fast, we
got up and got packed. While we were packing, Zoe noticed the
cheerleaders practicing across the street at the high school. Grammy and
Z walked over to check them out. Low and behold, Z comes back with a
picture in the middle of the whole Newman High School cheer team, how
cool is that? Grammy is a rock star! Before we headed to the
airport, we stopped for brunch at Cracker Barrel. It's always so hard
to leave, Zoe loves visiting and seeing everyone, she is such a family
oriented child and Lori and I love that about her. She would chose any
day of the week to be with family over being with friends. Zoe is so
loving and enjoys every second she gets with her family. She loves all
her cousins, aunts, uncles, and grandparents.
I asked Zoe what her favorite part of the trip was
and she said, "Everything!" It was a very relaxing trip, and I thoroughly enjoyed every second. I truly am blessed.
