Poconos

ALL ABOARD THE SCENIC BIKE TRAIN!

Step back in time and enjoy a relaxing train ride up the Lehigh Gorge for 25 miles, then pedal your bike back down to Jim Thorpe at your own pace along the Lehigh Gorge Rail-Trail.
Your day begins in Jim Thorpe where you & your bike will board the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway for a one hour ride as the train swings onto the former Lehigh Valley main line and passes Glen Onoko, the southern gateway to the Lehigh Gorge State Park.
While you sit back, relax and take in the outstanding scenery, the train will follow the winding Lehigh River for 25 miles, rounding curve after curve until you reach the village of White Haven. Here you and your bike will be dropped off at the Lehigh Gorge trailhead.
Once at the trailhead, pedal at your own pace down the Lehigh Gorge Rail-Trail for 25 miles back to Jim Thorpe. Along the way, you’ll pass canal remnants, swim spots, scenic overlooks and railroad trestles.

What an amazing day! 25-miles of biking and looking at beautiful scenery. We cannot wait to go back in the fall and do it again. We were so proud of Zoe, 25- miles isn't easy and she struggled a little at the end however she loved every second.
It was a PERFECT DAY!

OUR Day

I can't remember the last time we were all able to schedule un-interrupted quality time together. By that I mean, Shelli didn't have to catch a plane for work, Zoe didn't have a sport activity, and we didn't have any prior commitments. We woke up LATE, Shelli made her famous banana pecan waffles, and we decided to ride up to the craft store and pick out bird houses to paint for the back yard.

When we got there, the selection was actually pretty big. We all kind of stood there not sure which one we wanted. We all found the perfect one and headed home to get started on making our houses as fancy as we could for the neighborhood birds.

By the time we were done, we were all pretty impressed on how great they came out. We couldn't wait to let them dry so we could get them hung up. The project was super successful!

Mother's Day Weekend

Mother's Day was wonderful! We actually were able to get away for the weekend and I couldn't of been more thrilled. Shelli and I worked half day on Friday, packed up the car, picked Zoe up from school, and headed to Atlantic City. We got there about 3pm, checked into the hotel and hit the Atlantic City Tanger Outlets ( http://www.tangeroutlet.com/atlanticcity ).
We walked around until it was time for dinner and headed over to the Tropicana casino Cuban restaurant called Cuba Libre (http://www.cubalibrerestaurant.com/ ) that we spotted on our way in – they have one in Philly too! Let's face it, Cuban food is nothing we would ever pass up and boy was it good. It made me so homesick. We enjoyed every-single-bite! I'm still thinking about it..... After a delightful dinner, Shelli tried her hand at a few slot machines with no luck, we went back to the hotel to call it a night.

Saturday morning we woke up and it was overcast, Zoe was devastated because it was our beach day. The sun was supposed to come out in the afternoon so we made the best of it and checked out a place called Historic Smithville ( http://historicsmithvillenj.com/towne/ ), it was a very cute place with lots of unique shops. We bought fresh peanut butter, local honey, fresh baked dog treats, handmade soaps, and lots of other cool stuff. Once the sun broke through we high tailed it back to the hotel to get our bathing suits on and get to the beach. Well, the sun did come out however it was still too cold to really be at the beach. We stayed a couple hours and let Zoe play in the sand and play a little football with Mimi. Zoe was happy to just be at the beach! I was happy to just be sitting on my beach chair, covered in my towel, watching my daughter dig for crabs, dip her toes in the cold water, and find 'rare' shells.

Sunday was Mother's Day and on our way home we stopped at Ihop for breakfast. It was packed but well worth the wait. They were even giving out flowers to all the moms. When we got home, and unpacked the car, I was able to take a nap. It doesn't get better than that! It was a perfect Mother's Day weekend. I'm so blessed to be a mother and I value it with every ounce of my being.

Grace and Zoe

Grace is a student at my school who is the goalie on the soccer team. She is a senior this year and will be graduating but I have always been close to her and she has always been nothing but sweet to Zoe. We've been to Grace's soccer games and she's been to Zoe's games. Don't get me wrong, Zoe isn't a stranger to the High School, she knows lots of the kids, but there are a few she favors more and let's just say Grace is her #1.

This afternoon Grace came over for GIRL TIME with Zoe. Grace picked Z up and they went for ice cream. What? A high schooler picking up a 4th grader to hang out, how does this happen? Zoe was beside herself, just the two of them. When they got back to the house, they went down to the basement and played video games for a little while before Grace had to go to work.

When Grace left, Zoe was over the moon. She has always looked up to Grace and I couldn't be more proud of her looking up to such a great role model. Grace got a full scholarship to college for soccer and we look forward to go seeing her play once she gets there and settled. (I love her like one of my own!)
