1st day of school

Zoe and I went back to school today after a wonderful summer off. I cannot believe our baby is in 5th grade. Where has the time gone? We both had a great 1st day.

New Babies

It's been a little while coming ...
We have 4 new baby girls. They are about 14 weeks old and we got them from a farm not far from the house. Our plan is to sell eggs at local farmer's markets but they won't be laying for a few months.We picked up another coop on Craigslist several weeks ago and started to re-do it like we did our other one. I think it came out pretty nice for $40 (plus supplies). 

This time around, we branched out and got a few different breeds of birds.
We got (2) Easter Eggers which produce eggs from olive green to light blue. 

(1) Speckled Sussex and (1) Blue Cochin which is a bird I have been in love with for a very long time. They have little fuzzy legs and are sweet as can be.

The girls are settling in and we are looking forward to them all becoming one BIG happy family.

Crab dinner

We save the best for last....Concert on the beach and Crabs for dinner!

 There is no better joy than to watch Zoe tear into crab. Shells were flying all over the place and she had a smile from ear to ear. She waits the entire trip for this meal and doesn't leave any leftovers!!! Shelli and I shared shrimp and some cocktails. It's more fun watching Zoe!

Water Park

 For $14 for the day (which includes mini golf) - You can't beat it! We packed a cooler with drinks and snacks and spent the day there. The lazy river was our favorite part.

Beach

Bike ride on the boardwalk and $2.99 breakfast special???  How can you go wrong?

Days on the beach is what it's all about!

Enjoy an eastern shore tradition, crabbing on the bay. Come out for a two hour, family-friendly excursion & enjoy a scenic trip around the Indian River.

No one caught any big enough to bring home but it sure was fun trying!

**Sidenote**

The co-captain of the boat, Mike went to school at the high school Zoe will be attending (CB South). Of course, as soon as he said that, I immediately start razzing him about MY high school (CB West) telling him how awesome we are compared to his school and well, anyone who goes to high school here can always appreciate a little back and forth banter.

Shore

We made it to the shore for our annual summer beach week! This year we stayed on the boardwalk at the Lankford Hotel. It is the perfect location and we would absolutely stay there again.

Work with Mommy

This morning I took Zoe to work with me so she could help me get a few things prepared for the first week. Zoe is no stranger to the high school, she loves going with me to work, and taking her with me is always a joy. During the summer, the halls are empty and the building is quiet so it isn't as fun as when the kids are there but she did a great job helping me. We were there a couple hours and I was happy to have the help!
