College Soccer

We finally had a free weekend and were able to make it to one of Grace's games. Grace is one of my kids that graduated last year and is now attending St. Joseph's University on a full soccer scholarship. She also used to coach Zoe in soccer and became her babysitter so she is like a daughter to me/us now after 2 years.

It was an away game so we drove to Lehigh University to watch the game which is about 45 min. away. We have yet to make it over to see her school and check out her dorm but that is on our 'list to do'.

It was so great seeing her. We haven't seen her since summer so watching her play was really nice. She played high school soccer so Zoe watched her play at the high school but never at a college level. It was very exciting. Unfortunatly, they lost but only by 1 and it was a great game! Grace plays goalie so we always get wound up when the ball gets near her. Her family was all there too so, it was just a really great afternoon with fantastic weather.

After the game, we waited for her to grab a quick hug and say, "Hi!" before she had to get on the bus and head back to school. Zoe was beyond happy to see her. She threw her arms around her and was beaming. We were so proud of the game Grace played and we look forward to watching more of her games.

RIP Carol

On August 22nd heaven gained another angel. Dana, one of my closest friends lost her mom to cancer. It had been an ongoing battle over the last few years. It was so hard to see Carol struggle, she was one of the strongest women I've ever known, and she fought the cancer until her body gave out. After meeting Carol several years ago when we first moved here, she has really made us feel like family and losing her has been very emotional and hard to digest.

We have many great memories before Nannie got sick however, after she was diagnosed it didn't stop Zoe from being there to help Nannie. All summer Zoe and I would stop by and check on Nannie, take her meals, visit with her, and just stop in to say hi and spend time with her. When we got the news she passed, we were devastated! Zoe wanted to attend the funeral however, I didn't think that was a good idea for a few reasons but, I promised her I would take her to the cemetery and visit Nannie as soon as the service was over and things were a little more 'calm'. Zoe was okay with that.

Her plan was to collect shells when we were at the shore, and make Nannie a special planter to put on her grave. I told Zoe that would be very special and I thought Nannie would love that. I took Zoe to Lowes and let her pick out whatever she wanted and the end result was PRICELESS.
Rest In Peace Nannie, We love you!

Back to School

Back to School Night was a success... We love Zoe's 5th grade teacher, Miss Gieseler. We are looking forward to this school year. It's been a crazy week trying to get re-adjusted however it was a fast week! We are looking forward to the 3-day weekend. Mama has been in bed every night before 9pm. Overall, Zoe is extremely happy and healthy and we couldn't ask for anything more.
