What an amazing weekend - Wow! We went
to NYC to see Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. We got there on
Monday (MLK day) and the streets were quiet, so we took total
advantage of it. We checked into the hotel, dropped our bags and
headed back out to hit the city we love so much. We were only a few
blocks away from Rockefeller Center, so we headed that direction
first. We watched the ice skaters for a little while before going to
one of Z's favorite spots, the Lego store. Zoe always finds something
she 'has' to have. Zoe's been saving her money so it was fun to watch
her look carefully at all the kits, compare prices, and debate what
she would spend her OWN money on. When we left there we went over to
one of my favorite places, St. Patrick's Cathedral. For as long as I
can remember I've loved this church. We always stop and say a little
prayer, and light a candle for our loved ones who are in heaven. I
like to stop at the gift shop and look at all the rosaries, which
remind me of my grandmother. Abuelita loved rosaries and whenever I
see them they remind me of her.

It was getting close to show time, so
we started back to the hotel to rest up a little before show time.
Zoe was beside herself with excitement. She was counting down the
seconds until we could go. The show was at 8pm, so we decided to rest
for an hour then grab a cab toward Times Square for dinner and of
course a slice of Junior's cheesecake.
We walked down to the theatre and the
line was around the building, people were everywhere, it was cold,
and we were ecstatic. They finally let everyone in, and we hurried to
our our seats and waited patiently for the lights to dim and the
curtains to raise. By intermission, I was more in awe than Zoe. There
are no words to describe how amazing this show was. It's by far the
best one I've ever seen. I didn't want it to end, it was phenomenal!
We grabbed a late bite after the show
(in a city that never sleeps), and crashed for the night. In the
morning we had a few hours before we had to leave, so we left the
bags with the concierge, and caught the subway to Greenwich Village
for breakfast at Bantam Bagels (which we saw on the show Shark Tank)
and it was delish! Watching Zoe maneuver the subway is a riot. She
walks around like shes owns the place. She has her backpack on,
earphones in her ears – listening to music, and taking in the
sights. Shelli and I get a hoot out of her.
I love living through Zoe's excitement.
She is full of life and makes us so happy and proud to be her
parents. She enjoys everything life brings her. It's so refreshing!
