CHICKENS!

I know this isn’t going to be hard to believe, but..... we welcomed 3 little Golden Buff ladies to our family today. Shelli has been talking about getting a few chickens since we moved but we just were not ready --- well, the time has come.

We received the call from the post office this morning letting us know the girls made it safe and sound and were ready for pick-up. Shelli couldn’t get out the door fast enough, she was like a kid on Christmas. We jumped in the car and headed to the post office to pick them up. When we got there our awesome mail lady, Ms. Alice looked at Shelli and said, “I’m not even going to ask”. I started laughing and shaking my head because everyone and anyone who knows our Shelli knows she’s always up to something. There was a long line at the post office and when the package came out they all started laughing with Ms. Alice and telling us the grocery store was right around the corner.  It was hysterical!

When we got the ladies home, we put them in their new home to let them get adjusted. We all loved on them for a little while and even let the dogs check them out. So far so good… Everyone is getting along thus far. The chickens are not yet at the age to lay eggs so we will have a few weeks to love on them and play with them before they start laying.

This family is always into something but I wouldn’t trade the adventures for anything in the world.

Book bags

I cannot believe summer is almost over. Where did the time go? We were so busy that the time just flew by – it was a fantastic summer.

Today Zoe and I dusted off our book bags and got out all the school supplies to pack our bags. We are officially ready for the first day of school. I’m in awe that our baby girl is going into 4th grade. As I was packing my bag, I found the school calendar for this year and Zoe said, “When is our first day off?”

Having this job has been a blessing. It’s the best of both worlds for me. We are both counting down till next summer. I want to enjoy every second with her before she’s too cool to hang out with her mommy!

OCMD

We were lucky enough to get Mimi all to ourselves for some down time at the beach. This is our second year going to Ocean City, MD and we love it there.

We usually always hit the boardwalk to the first night we are there. Zoe loves going to the arcade, playing the carnival games, and looking at all the shell stores. I always try to get Zoe on a roller coaster but it hasn’t happened yet!

The rest of the time, we spend on the beach. This time we ventured out and tried paddle boarding. It was awesome! Zoe got it right away and Shelli and I didn’t do too badly either. I’m proud to report, I didn’t fall off --- not that I can say the same for Shelli. Ha!

The week went by really fast and we are now in full ‘back to school’ mode. Zoe and I will be back to school next week. How did this summer go by so fast?

Hike

This afternoon Shelli had to head out again for work so we snuck in a quick hike before she left. We got home just in time for Shelli to grab a shower and head to the airport. It seems like we never get enough time together as a family. It’s not always easy to deal with however, when she gets home from this trip the three of us are going on a little family getaway. We couldn’t be more excited!!!!

Cruise to Mexico

Zoe and I just got back from Mexico. We flew into Miami and from there we met up with my best friends and their kids for our yearly get together.  We had a couple days to hang out with Mamaw and Pop Pop before getting on the boat. We didn't do too much. Just spent quality time together which is always nice.  We also got to sneak in a visit with Uncle Henry and Aunt Mer (Zoe's godparents).

The cruise was 5 days.... 3 kids, ages 2,4, and 9, four adults, Christina, Ariel, Joey, and myself, 3 staterooms, several visits to the 24 hour buffet, a few shows, pools and slides, a girls sneak away to the spa, hundreds of pictures, and a lifetime of memories.

The kids had the time of their lives and the adults enjoyed every second of watching the kids have the time of their lives. I have been friends with Ariel and Christina since Elementry  school. There isn't too much we haven't been through together and though we all live in different states we remain close to this day. They are way more than friends - they are more like siblings. I'm blessed to have two nephews that I love so very much. We are already planning next years adventure.

The only thing missing from the trip was Mimi! She has had such a crazy work schedule that she had to pass on this trip.
